Dental Health TipsEmergency Care
- If a baby tooth is knocked out, call your dentist as soon as possible. If the tooth is partially in place, DO NOT try to push it back in. Your dentist should treat the child as soon as possible.
- If an adult tooth is knocked out find the tooth and place it under the tongue or in a clean container or cloth soaked with milk, saliva or water. Call your dentist's emergency number. The faster you act the greater the chance to save the tooth.
- If a tooth is chipped or fractured, rinse the mouth with water and apply cold compresses to reduce swelling. Contact your dentist immediately.
- If a toothache occurs, apply a cold compress around the area, if possible. DO NOT put heat or aspirin in the area. Call your dentist as soon as possible.
- Dental injuries can be prevented. Mouth guards should be worn for all contact or equipment sports. These can be bought in a sports store or inquire with your regular dentist.
