FAQs > Membership FAQs

What type of membership is available?
Please click here to learn more about the different types of memberships with CDABC.

What is the membership cycle?
Active and Associate membership runs April 1 - March 31. Student membership runs September 1 - August 31. Pro-rated Active membership for new graduates runs September 1 - March 31.

I am a licensed CDA. Why do I pay two separate fees (one to you and one to the College of Dental Surgeons of BC)?
In the past, one cheque covered both your licence and association fees, and the cheque was written to the College. The only difference now is that the fees are paid separately; instead of writing one cheque to the College , you write two separate cheques: one to the College for $100 for your licence fee(please verify with the College) and one to the CDABC for $100 for your association fee.

Can I pay a pro-rated membership fee if I sign up later in the membership year?
Only new graduates and CDAs new to the province, who sign up for membership between September 1 and March 31, are given a pro-rated membership fee. The amount is $60 and provides membership for the remainder of that membership year.

CDABC is a not-for-profit member association. If the CDABC offered the pro-rated fee to all potential members, CDABC's income would drop significantly. However, our operating expenses would remain the same. CDABC would need to make up for the drop in income, and since the primary source of CDABC income is from membership fees, the only way to make up the difference would be to raise all membership fees.
