Continuing Ed FAQs

Earning CE with CDABC

All CDABC Active and Associate members receive 12 CE credits that are redeemed by taking courses from the CDABC CE library at no additional cost to membership fees. Members that require more than 12 credits can login to purchase extra credits in the CDABC Store. Click here for the CE terms and conditions.

How do I redeem my 12 continuing education credits that are included with my Active/Associate membership?

Please see: How do I take CDABC CE courses here.

Does the CDABC know how many credits I have left to redeem from the 12 free credits that came with my membership?

Please login to the website, and click on My Desktop to view the number of credits you have left to redeem.

My CE cycle ends this year and I need less than the 12 credits that come with my membership. Can I take X number of credits and leave the extra credits on my CDABC account for my next cycle?

Yes. Simply take courses that equal the number of credits you need by your deadline. The credits you do not use will sit on your CDABC account until your CDABC membership expires or you renew your membership--whichever happens first.

Are CDABC courses available to non-members for a fee?

CDABC is investigating the possibility of allowing non-members access to courses on a per-course-fee basis. Please stay tuned.

As a member, how do I register for/take the CDABC CE courses included in my membership?

Please click here for step-by-step instruction.

CDABC Tele-seminars

What are tele-seminars? How do they work?

Tele-seminars are live CE events that happen over the telephone on a specific date and time. You do not have to be at a computer at the time of the call. Lectures are one hour/one credit, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PT on a specified date (Monday to Thursday).

The College of Dental Surgeons considers CDABC tele-seminars as live study courses, not self-study courses.

When registration opens for a tele-seminar, members will be informed by email or can visit the homepage at www.cdabc.org. After you register for a tele-seminar, you automatically receive an email that includes phone number and special code you use to call into the tele-seminar at a specific time. On the day of the tele-seminar you call in at the designated time, and a live lecture occurs over the phone. Within 72 hours after the lecture, you log into the CDABC website, click on My Desktop > My Events, and take a short quiz for the course.  Please note: you do not need to be in front of a computer during the call; you only need to be on the phone.

If you miss a tele-seminar, you may be able to listen to the lecture later if it was recorded. You will only earn self-study credits if you listen to a pre-recorded lecture.
