Welcome to the CDAA 2022 Job Market, Compensation and Benefit Survey

CDAA is surveying practicing dental assistants and those working in a related occupation (e.g., Office management / reception / administration, Community / Public Health, Education / Training, Dental Supply Company, Insurance Company, Regulatory body, etc.) to learn about current job market and employment trends across Canada. The survey also touches on working conditions and issues in the professional practice setting including work related issues that emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic.

We value your input regardless of your current status (e.g., currently working as a dental assistant or in a related occupation, on temporary leave, previously employed as a dental assistant or related occupation, retired, student, etc.). 

The last CDAA job market survey was completed in 2013 and your participation is crucial for developing a current profile of the job market and related issues and supporting CDAA’s efforts to meet your needs and advocate for the profession of dental assisting.

To protect your privacy, CDAA has contracted the services of a third-party provider, Harry Cummings and Associates, to conduct this survey.
The large majority of questions in the survey are multiple choice format. There are also opportunities throughout the survey to share your detailed observations if you desire to. There are a small number of multiple choice questions that require an answer because they affect subsequent questions in the survey.

Response times can vary, but we strongly encourage you to set aside at least 20-30 minutes to complete the survey as it covers a broad range of questions related the workplace and your experience.

You can work through the survey at your own pace and if you want to complete the survey in more than one sitting you can simply log back on through the survey link that is provided below. Responses are saved automatically, and you can return to complete the survey. However, you will need to make sure that you log on to the survey from the same computer where you initially started the survey.

Once you reach the end of the survey you will have the option of having your name included in a raffle for a chance to win one of three gift cards ($200, $125, $75) from the CDAA URStore (merchandise, apparel and accessories). If you opt to provide your name and contact details for the raffle the information will only be used for the purpose of the draw and will not be linked to any of the survey findings.

Privacy and Confidentiality

The privacy of your responses is protected in several ways:

• The survey is hosted on a private, secure server in Canada;
• The results are being collected and analyzed by an independent research firm, Harry Cummings and Associates (HCA);
• HCA is fully compliant with all privacy legislation;
• This survey is conducted in compliance with the standards of Market Research and Intelligence Association and the global ESOMAR standards; and
• Your responses will remain confidential, results will be reported in aggregate only, and no answers will be attributed to specific individuals. Once you have completed and submitted the survey you will not be able to go back and change your responses.
