Changes to CE Maximums for Dental/Medical Emergencies

Tuesday, May 12, 2015

The College of Dental Surgeons of BC Board has approved a request by the Quality Assurance Committee to increase the maximum number of Continuing Education credits allowed in the Dental/Medical Emergencies category.

The maximum number of credits for dentists over a three-year cycle is now 24 (up from 22), and the maximum for CDAs is now 12 (up from 7). The Committee based the increase on the new requirements for practitioners to maintain Basic Life Support for health care providers / Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, as outlined in the recently updated Minimal and Moderate Sedation Services in Dentistry Standards and Guidelines document.

This change is retroactive to 1 January 2015.
