The Chief Dental Officer of Canada has shared the study COVID-19: The Immediate Response of European Academic Dental Institutions and Future Implications for Dental Education. The study asked over 150 European dental schools about how COVID-19 has affected their practices and education plans, as well as what they are doing to address these issues.
Dental education is different from medical education, in that a high proportion of the dental clinical education requires the students convene in physical settings and cannot be replaced by tele-health formats, as is now occuring at many medical schools.
While this research draws exclusively from European schools, their findings are thorough and may be of interest to dental educators as they consider training in a post-COVID environment.
