As many of you are aware, the CDA profession in BC is currently regulated by the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, under the Health Professions Act. The CDABC, by contrast, is a not-for-profit association whose mission is to promote the interests of its members and the profession in British Columbia.
In the past, CDABC has polled its members to ask whether they would support pursuing self-regulation for the CDA profession in BC – the majority voted yes. At that time, CDABC membership was mandatory for all CDAs, so many more CDAs in the province were members. Currently, CDABC does not have mandatory membership, and our membership numbers are less than 1,000.
We, the Board of Directors of CDABC, feel that it is important to clarify the wishes of the members. To achieve this, we are polling all members on their opinion regarding the pursuit of self-regulation. Please follow the link below to provide your input by Friday, July 31st.

We understand that it can be tough keeping track of the differences between our association and the College. If you would like some clarification on how the two bodies differ in terms of continuing education, practice standards and certification issues, please take a look at this handy infographic and share the information with your colleagues.
