Update from PHO & CDSBC regarding Vaccination Requirements for Health-Care Professionals

Tuesday, March 8, 2022

On March 7th, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer finalized the order regarding vaccination requirements for health-care professionals, including certified dental assistants. The new order requires health colleges to disclose the vaccine status of their registrants, “on request by the PHO, or medical health officers” (PHO, 2022). Please visit the following link for the full Information Bulletin on the PHO website: https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022HLTH0077-000306.

The College of Dental Surgeons has updated its website, informing registrants of the finalized health order, noting that “[no] action on the part of the registrants is required at this time” (CDSBC, 2022). The College asks that registrants hold off contacting the office while they assess next steps. For more information, please read the full bulletin from CDSBC: https://www.cdsbc.org/Pages/pho-vaccine.aspx

Certified Dental Assistants of BC’s board of directors reminds all CDABC members that the association is not required to collect information about our members’ vaccination status. Any requests to provide information about your vaccination status will come directly from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC. We remind you to please check your email in the coming days for further information from the College.

Our office will share updates as they become available.

Thank you,

CDABC Board of Directors
